On Thursday, August 20th, Barkley Square along with Planet Wine held their first Yappy Happy Hour. What a blast. We had about 30 dogs between the hours of 6 and 9. The wine flowed at $4.00 a glass. Planet Wine chose a red and a white wine from a Summer collection by France.
Folks came in with dogs in tow, grabbed some free treats for their pooches at the Bark Bar found a seat and kicked back and just enjoyed the night.
Finally at 10 pm, Cocoa had to go out and tell the remaining guests that he had to go home it was past his bedtime. They stayed on to finish their conversations and their French wines.
Thanks to all of you who made our first of many Yappy Happy Hours a success. See ya this Thursday!!!
Barkley Square has been open a full month in Del Ray, 7 days a week and hosting a workshop every Wednesday evening. Wow, I cant believe it has been a month. Cocoa and Gigi are making so many new friends that it is ridiculous. They even have groupies that come by every week just to see them. Guess that tells you where I rank on the hierarchy chain.
We just got the “go ahead” for our Happy/Yappy Hours co-hosted by Planet Wine. They will be serving up some delicious summer wines and fair, while we will be cooking up so yummy treats for the hounds, along with fresh water too. Thursdays from 6-9 PM.
I just can not wait to see where this new Del Ray journey is going to take me. Its awesome right now.
Karing by Kristina and Barkley Square Bakery have been selling treats at the Del Ray farmers market on Saturday mornings. Don’t forget to stop by and stock up on yummy fresh baked treats!
The office move is well under way! We have moved all of our things and we are working hard on getting everything organized. You may notice office calls going right to voicemail. Shelly is checking the messages regularly and getting back to everyone as quickly as possible. Verizon is coming tomorrow to get our phones set up and you will be able to get Shelly live. We are really excited to be located in the same building as Barkley Square, I know my dogs are excited that fresh baked treats will be available every time they come to work with me!!!
So today was to be the last day that Barkley Square Old Town was to open. We had hundreds of customers come and tell us we just couldn’t leave. Some of our customers cried with me as I shared my feelings about leaving Old Town. The dog customers howled out loud that our doors would be closed tomorrow when they came for their Sunday stroll.
I just can not believe the multitude of my customers that shared how upset they were that I had to close my Old Town store. I heard story after story of how the customers include Barkley in their daily walk. How they dont know what they are going to tell their doggies when they walk up to the store and we are no longer there. My heart just broke. I love you guys.
I just cant do it, so we will be open tomorrow, Sunday the 3rd for our last day to say goodbye. Cocoa along with his sister Gigi, will be at the store to say good bye to Old Town, but hello to Del Ray.
We should be there around noon and hang out for a while, Oh…Cocoa said until 4 or so. So come by, say hello, not good bye.
