Adoptable Pet of the Week
I have the pleasure of pet sitting Marmaton (Missouri) this week along with the other Cairn Terriers in her foster family. She is a very sweet girl and will make a great addition for a loving family! While out on a walk I interviewed her
Below is what she told me.
“Hi! My name is a Marmaton. I’m named after a river in Missouri so my foster family calls me “Missouri.” I’m a 5 year old, red brindle Cairn Terrier. I just had my birthday this past weekend! I’m very skinny, I weigh about 10 pounds, but I’m working on gaining weight. I was rescued from a commercial breeding facility about a month ago so I’m still timid but curious about the world. I like to investigate my surroundings when no one is looking. And I like to be around people, especially sitting on the sofa. I love treats and meal time! I also like to be around non-aggressive dogs, I enjoy feeling like part of the pack! I live with two Cairn terriers. They are my friends, and great teachers! I feel safe in my crate and like to retreat there when I feel uncomfortable. I’m not too good at walking on a leash just yet, but I’m working on it. I’ve only been on a few walks but I love them. I’ve been doing really well with my crate training and potty training, I’ve only had a few accidents. I’d love a forever home where my parents won’t mind working with me to teach me new things. A home where I’ll be part of a pack and allowed on a sofa. I’d love to be with someone who likes to give good pets and lets me cuddle with them. Oh, treats are good too! And most of all, I’d love a place where I can feel safe. Does this sound like your home?”
Marmaton is available through the Col Potter Cairn Rescue Network which is formed for the charitable purposes of rescuing purebred Cairn Terriers and Cairn Terrier mixes which are homeless or soon-to-be-homeless, including, without limitation, those found in animal shelters or similar facilities and those released by their owners due to change in family circumstances or otherwise, as well as purebred Cairn Terriers and Cairn Terrier mixes which are being used as breeding stock by so-called puppy mills and backyard breeders, including those disposed of in puppy mill auctions; facilitating the pick-up and transport of such dogs; arranging for their spay/neuter as well as for the provision of other appropriate veterinary care for them; rehabilitating and fostering such dogs; seeking applications for and screening permanent homes for such dogs; facilitating their adoption; and educating the public about responsible Cairn Terrier care and ownership.
If Marmaton is adopted by someone after reading this article, I would like to offer them a pet goody bag from Barkley Square Bakery and a $50 gift certificate to Karing by Kristina Complete Pet Care Professionals for their next pet sitting service.
